What’s Cooking America is aiming to redesign their website. Going to 99designs.com, here are the details of the contest:

We’re developing a website for one of the largest cooking sites on the internet, and we want your help! We’re looking for several mockups, intensely professional, minimalist, simple
We are re-designing this website from the ground-up. Some of it’s competitors include myrecipes.com, allrecipes.com, epicurious.com, http://www.recipezaar.com/. These are the competitors that we need to crush :) (more…)

Bonafide.com is holding a redesign contest in 99designs. Below is a screenshot of their existing site along with the details of what their looking for. Followed by my design proposal and findings of what they should expect in their new website:

Design details:

We are creating a new website for our company.  The goal is to get perspective clients to view the website and then click through to a demo sign up form and submit it.  The old website is www.bonafide.com  It is a bit too cluttered on top and does not have much color.  We would like to use the bonafide logo on the main page as well as maroon and grey as the primary coloring.  We would like to give a breif description of the product and then have a side bar of links to information pages about different features.  (Billing, enteral supplies, High-End Rehab, etc)  Probably will have 5 categories with 5 sub categories which each link to their own informational page with probably a picture and 2 paragraphs of text

This post will show you how to set up a Web farm in WSS 3.0. I am assuming that you already have knowledge of WSS 3.0 such as web applications, site collections etc. I also assume that you already have a web application set up in your WSS 3.0 installation.

*Keep in mind that a web application requires a separate “Web Site” in IIS. With this said - you can set up several web applications in one web server - each application will have it’s own respective port. The steps to do this is similar to setting up multiple databases within one site collection

Website chromosome.com needs a logo. Contest is held at 99designs.com. Below are my entries - feel free to comment:

My first impression of Photoshop Express would be a ‘mini’ version of the desktop image editing favorite – that is online. Having used Photoshop since its earlier versions, it is fair to expect some of the standard items such as layers, tools, actions comps in this newest member of the Photoshop family. Wikipedia defines Photoshop as: “a graphics editor developed and published by Adobe Systems…market leader for commercial bitmap and image manipulation…”

But what I got was a complete different thing. Instead, PE is nothing like Photoshop desktop version. It is a futile attempt by Adobe to enter online photo album sharing and collaboration in which established Flickr, Picnik, Picasa and more already dominate.

This article will focus on image editing aspect of PE – what Photoshop IS all about:

User Interface is self-explanatory and simple. Once your account is set up, uploading images and/or migrating from other websites is a jiff.

Once an image is uploaded – under Photo Options > Edit Photo. We enter – image editing mode. (more…)

99designs - Design On The Fly!

For those of you that do not know - a new website out there to show off your design abilities on the fly. It’s called 99designs.com. I say “on the fly” because - it’s the quickest way for both a designer, and one looking for a design to get a logo / website mock up in the web. The site’s concept is simple yet - brilliant.

- “Contests” are held by people who are looking for designs

- Designers can browse through ”contests” and submit their designs

- More features and updates can be found at their blog

SimpleSkin Wordpress Theme

This is my first theme for wordpress known as SimpleSkin. Made from scratch using Small Potato’s guidelines. Included gravatar support from Themeshaper, and design influences from FreelanceSwitch and again Themeshaper. Free to download - no guarantee of bugs and will not provide support. Any feedback is appreciated.

Everyone in the Wordpress community knows Small Potato and his legacy of fine tutorials. We are also aware of the new owner of WPdesigner > although no new word on it’s progress by far. So my question is: who will follow Small Potato’s footsteps? For new bloggers like me - who have depended on tutorials in WPdesigner - I feel like I am completely on my own. I have started my own theme - but am now once again lost. Anyone know of a centralized website like wpdesigner who is entirely devoted to teaching newbies like me?

Excel by Alpha Blogdesigns

I’ve decided to borrow Excel” theme by Alpha Blogdesigns until I finish a theme I am working on. I decided to use Excel because its very clean, subtle and downright sharp. If I wasn’t into creating my own - I would definitely keep this as a permanent theme for my blog. Kudos to Alpha!

Gwen Magazine Cover Art

This is for testing the new gallery / image uploading capability of Wordpress 2.5. About the covers: these are fictional magazine covers that I created out of Photoshop. Gwen is my daughter - who would like to be a model and as you can see - is very photogenic.
